The hall "The Verny Period of the History of Almaty," dedicated to the development of the city at the turn of XIX- XX centuries, is represented by the interior of a residential house. Rare samples of furniture art of cabinetmakers and wonderful household items of the XIX century convey the unique atmosphere of the era. The central place in the exhibition is dedicated to Andrey Pavlovich Zenkov. Documents, personal belongings, unique technical developments introduce the visitors to the many-sided work of this outstanding engineer, whose name is connected with the emergence of a new science in the region – earthquake engineering. The exposition is enhanced by the demonstration of the videos that reflect the planning structure of the city, the variety of styles in the architecture of the Verny buildings, the consequences of the devastating earthquakes of 1887 and 1911.
