During archaeological excavations carried out by the Association of Museums of Almaty city, a partially intact burial place of a Saka warrior of the period of V-II century BC was discovered on the mounds in the emergency condition, situated in the Alatau district of Almaty.
In the grave pit, fragments of a warrior’s armament were found — a sword decorated with golden elements, as well as inserts for clothes made of sheet gold decorated with images in animalistic style, as well as silver alloy items for clothes.
The warrior was found in a wooden box, located at a depth of more than 3 meters.
